INDIANAPOLIS (BP)--For the second straight year, Baptist Press is hosting a news blog for the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting, providing readers the latest news from the convention almost instantly.

Dubbed "Instant News," the blog -- available at www.bpnews.net/blog -- will provide readers the nuts and bolts of annual meeting news before Baptist Press posts more detailed, full-length stories.

For example, blog readers will know within seconds of it being announced which of six announced nominees for president is elected at the Indianapolis meeting. Then, later that day, a story with quotes from the new president will be posted at Baptist Press' main website, www.bpnews.net.

"We had great feedback last year from our initial go-round with the blog, and look forward to providing Southern Baptists another year of reliable, timely news," said Will Hall, executive editor of Baptist Press.

The blog will begin its coverage of the annual meeting at 8 a.m. Eastern Tuesday and will report throughout the Tuesday-Wednesday meeting on such news as:

-- Vote totals for president, first vice president, second vice president and other officers.

-- Results of votes on motions and resolutions.

-- SBC President Frank Page's final address.
