OWASSO—Baptist Village of Owasso is ready to feature its newest addition. An open house is scheduled for Thursday, March 7 for the Thompson Family Neighborhood, which is equipped to help residents needing memory support.
Tours of the neighborhood will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.-Noon. A dedication ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m.
“We are going to minister to people who have dementia and to the families of people who have dementia,” said Bill Pierce, president of Baptist Village Communities (BVC), when describing the Thompson Family Neighborhood to members of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma Board of Directors. “We are grateful to the families who provided the funds for this building, and we went into this building without any debt, so that’s a tremendous blessing to us.”
The innovative, 10,000-square-foot neighborhood offers services for those facing Alzheimer’s, dementia and other memory-related challenges. The new neighborhood is located west of Liberty Place Assisted Living and included 16 single occupancy or double occupancy apartment homes.
Baptist Village of Owasso is one of five BVC campuses to offer memory support services. Owasso is a L.I.F.E.® Network, offering many levels of service.
One of the most impressive features of the neighborhood is the Abbott Family Snoezelen® Room. This room provides an incredible multi-sensory environment and offers a relaxed atmosphere with pleasant surroundings, calming sounds, soothing aromas, lighting effects and more. The Snoezelen® Room also provides opportunities for interaction and engagement. In addition, the room doubles as a storm gathering place, providing residents and families with peace of mind during inclement weather.
