In a matter of days, the 2024 Election Day arrives. All the attention is fixed on who will be our next President of the United States. Certainly, that consequential vote deserves a huge amount of prayer, thought and consideration.

Meanwhile, there are other key votes happening, concerning Congress, state legislative races, judicial votes, as well as state questions.

The 2024 Election has featured a significant amount of discussion and information (and misinformation) concerning abortion and the fight to protect the unborn and help mothers.

There are 10 states who are facing ballot initiatives concerning abortion. While Oklahoma is not one of those, the fight in each of these states should be concerning to us here in Oklahoma. Dr. Albert Mohler of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary offers a detailed analysis in this new podcast episode on “The Briefing.”

The Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission has an interactive map to tell you where these absolutely crucial votes about abortion state questions are happening. Christians in these states must vote for life, to save unborn lives. If you are a professing Christian, take time to get informed on these votes and pray for a life-affirming outcome.

In Oklahoma, there is debate about judicial retention. A handful of Oklahoma State Supreme Court justices are on the ballot, who have been lethal to life-affirming, pro-life policies in our state. Take time to research about their votes at this link.

Whenever the topic of abortion comes up, we must remember this is life and death issue. As you go to vote, let’s remember to commit this act of voting to the Lord, and to remember to protect the most vulnerable among us, including unborn children.

The phrase, “Pray. Vote. Pray” has been used to remind Christians to rely on the Lord in their voting decisions (1 Tim. 2:1-3). It’s time we do just that—pray, vote for life, then pray more.
