Clay Phillips serves as the director of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) at Carl Albert State College in Poteau. He helps students grow in their faith through discipleship and evangelism as they reach their campus for Christ.

One of the problems Clay faces in his ministry to college students is that students lean on either the faith or unbelief of their parents instead of committing to follow Christ for themselves. Also, Clay and the BCM staff must also help the current generation overcome anxiety about connecting to them.

Clay loves seeing students come to Christ and watching the trajectory of their lives change as they embrace their new calling in Him.

“Recently, a student surrendered his life to Christ,” Clay said, “and as I explained to him the Gospel and helped him learn how to be saved, I was reminded in the midst of all the energy we expend and activities we plan of why we do what we do. There’s no greater feeling than seeing someone cross from death to life.”

Clay asks for prayer that the Gospel would shine brightly to those on the campus of Carl Albert State College who are lost. Pray also that Clay, his wife, Lindsay, and their three young children would be strengthened as they labor in ministry together.

Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
