James Brown serves as the director of the Baptist Collegiate Ministry (BCM) at Langston University. His goal is to guide and come alongside students and administrators to encourage, mentor, disciple and equip. He is in the business of planting seeds, watering and feeding, which is a ministry James said never runs out, as so many students don’t recognize their sinful state and their need for a Savior.
“I hear students talk about the worldly lifestyle of their peers and that it looks like they are okay,” James said. “They don’t realize that outward appearances don’t reflect the eternal security of a soul. It’s also challenging to compete with some of the other organizations on campus.”
But James and his wife, Tyink, work hard to impress upon the students the importance of being part of the BCM at Langston. Through the BCM, students are discipled and taught godly principles they can rely on while in school and throughout life.
Young people are the future leaders of the world and the future of the Church. Because of generous donations through the Cooperative Program, young lives are being shaped to become future missionaries, church planters, preachers, lay leaders and servants of God.
The Browns asked for prayer for their ministry, their family and the Church. Pray students will come to understand the importance of being part of the BCM and that they will realize that outward appearances don’t reflect the eternal security of a soul. Pray they would take seriously the call Jesus has given to all Christians, which is to make disciples.
Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
