Oklahoma Baptist University’s (OBU) 10th Green and Gold Gala is more than a celebration—it’s a moment to witness transformation.

On Tuesday, April 1, 2025, alumni, friends, and supporters will gather on OBU’s campus to hear from world-renowned leadership expert John C. Maxwell, explore newly revitalized spaces, and invest in the future of the university through the newly launched Shape the Future Campaign.

Maxwell, the keynote speaker for the evening, is widely regarded as one of the foremost authorities on leadership development. With more than 34 million books sold in over 50 languages, Maxwell has inspired leaders around the world and trained individuals to create meaningful change through his Maxwell Leadership organization. His presence at the gala will offer attendees a rare opportunity to hear directly from a global leadership icon.

Set for 7 p.m. in the Recreation and Wellness Center, this year’s gala marks the first time the event will take place on Bison Hill, giving attendees an exclusive opportunity to see firsthand the progress of the university’s recovery from the April 2023 tornado that damaged every major building on campus.

“During this unique time in OBU’s history, we are eager to open the doors to our university and showcase the way we are forging forward with new degree fields, modernized academic spaces and rich and rewarding experiences for our students,” said OBU president Dr. Heath A. Thomas.

Pre-dinner events will feature a silent auction and “behind the scenes” tours of historic buildings such as Shawnee Hall and Raley Chapel, both of which are being renovated and modernized as state-of-the art structures through the Shape the Future initiatives. An additional highlight will be a tour of Thurmond Hall and the emerging STEM corridor featuring OBU’s engineering program labs as well as the remodel of Wood Science building.  Registration for tours will be available at the time of ticket purchase.

The Green and Gold Gala is a tradition that brings together OBU alumni, faculty, staff, and community leaders for an evening of connection, philanthropy, and inspiration.

Individual tickets for the gala are $150 per person, with $75 of each ticket being tax-deductible. Sponsorship opportunities and corporate tables are also available. The evening’s attire is semi-formal, with suits, sequins and sneakers appropriate due to the availability of tours in the historic buildings.
