Oklahoma Baptist Disaster Relief (DR) volunteers jumped into action following storms that raced across the state on June 17. There is widespread damage from the tornadoes and strong straight-line winds.
“Our desire is to bring help, hope and healing to individuals during this time of disaster by being the hands and feet of Jesus,” said Jason Yarbrough, state DR director.
Yarbrough reported that teams are currently set up at Laverne, First, serving food to the community and doing chainsaw work following a tornado in that community.
“We also have local teams working from home serving the Cushing, Tulsa, Broken Arrow, Claremore and Inola areas,” he said.
Homeowners affected by the recent storms are encouraged to contact DR if they have trees down on houses, vehicles, blocking entries or driveway. Visit okdisasterhelp.org or call 844/690-9198.
Yarbrough also asked for prayers for those impacted by the storms and for DR volunteers who are serving.
Monetary donations to help with this and future responses can be made through the Oklahoma Baptist DR website, okdisasterhelp.org.
