On March 28-29, Oklahoma City, Emmaus hosted the Oklahoma Baptists Missions Conference which provided equipping, team building and missions education for Oklahoma Baptists of all ages. The emphasis for the conference was “Send One. Take One. Be One,” preparing attendees on how to send someone to be a missionary, take someone to be a missionary and how to become a missionary themselves.
“What a privilege to be a part of these ministries that literally impact ministry globally for the short-term and beyond,” said Falls Creek program director and youth ministry partner Todd Sanders. “We have Oklahoma missionaries around the world on the field right now. GoStudents and other global mission efforts of Oklahoma Baptists play a significant role in that.”
The speaker for the conference was Julius Tennal, director of international missions for The Summit Church in Raleigh-Durham, N.C. Over the course of three sessions, Tennal encouraged those in attendance to place their trust in God and be a missionary wherever they are. Glad the City, an Oklahoma City based band lead worship for the conference.
In addition to the main sessions, there were also breakout sessions focused on specific mission training.
On Friday, March 28, the day before the missions conference, a leadership training conference for GoStudents Network trip coordinators and co-coordinators.
The passion for missions was inspiring to church leaders.
“It’s really exciting to see everyone excited about exploring missions,” said Sarah Wooten, Oklahoma Baptists girls ministry partner and Falls Creek program associate. “The passion to advance the Gospel is encouraging and refreshing.”
With the increased passion for missions, both domestic and international, the future of missions at Oklahoma Baptists is bright. GoStudents Network is one of the best ways church members of all ages can get engaged with missions.
“God is moving supernaturally through one of the most diverse sending pipelines in our national convention in a way that strengthens, edifies and empowers our churchs,” said Oklahoma Baptists missions ministry partner Mike Wall.
