Oklahoma City, Southern Hills will be offering a special expanded Vacation Bible School June 3-7 for victims of the recent tornado. Children, babies through 8thgrade, will be invited to stay for a free lunch and enjoy age-appropriate planned afternoon activities until 6 p.m., each day during VBS week.
All persons caring for children have gone through security background checks. At the conclusion of each day, families of victims will be invited to enjoy an evening meal at no cost when they pick up their children.
Tornado victims are asked to show some type of ID that verifies they are victims. Address ID, a pass that allows the family to return to their neighborhood, or other such identifications are acceptable forms.
All children, who turn 5 by Sept. 1 or older, are invited to Southern Hills’ VBS from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
“Interestingly enough, this year’s VBS theme is ‘Facing Fear, Trusting God – 2 Tim. 1:7’,” said Linda Myers, director of preschool ministry at Southern Hills. “It is our hope to help the children of this community to understand the hope that is in Christ as we face the fears that come in our lives.”
As an additional special gift to tornado victims, Southern Hills will sponsor a “Community-wide Family Fun Night” on Wed., June 5 from 5–7:30 p.m. in the church parking lot. Free food, rides, inflatables and games will be available for all families to enjoy.
