Those planning to attend the State Evangelism Conference (SEC) at Oklahoma City, Southern Hills, Jan. 29-30 can expect a sense of “Urgency!” when sharing the Gospel message through evangelism. To make trips as seamless as possible, the Messenger staff has created a guide to planning a trip to the SEC.
While planning trips to the SEC, there are many things that one should consider. First, attendees should register online at www.sec.okbaptist.com/registration. Registering ahead of time ensures a check-in process free of complications or lines once at the SEC. Upon registration, a tentative breakout session selection and meal registration selection will be asked among other questions. Registration will be available on-site.
Meals served at the SEC include the Senior Adult Luncheon, OCOSBE luncheon, Young Pastors Luncheon, Young Pastors’ Wives Luncheon, Bi-Vocational and Smaller in Attendance Churches Pastors Dinner on Monday and the African American Pastors Dinner on Tuesday. Some meals are invitation only. Southern Hills will provide light meals, snacks and drinks in the exhibit area for minimal cost.
For those traveling to the SEC, lodging accommodations can be found at www.sec.okbaptist.com/lodging. A block of rooms has been reserved at Holiday Inn Express on South Walker Ave. in Oklahoma City. An American Sign Language Interpreter will be provided for the hearing impaired during general sessions only. Additionally, Patty Webb, ministry coordinator for Deaf Evangelism Explosion in the United States will lead a breakout session on how to share one’s faith.
Women attending the SEC can look forward to the Women’s Session on Tues., Jan. 30 beginning at 9 a.m. Lina Abujamra, who spoke at the 2017 Women’s Spring Retreat, is the keynote speaker for the Women’s Session. For a full list of featured speakers at SEC, visit www.sec.okbaptist.com/speakers.
Childcare will be provided for children ranging from birth to Pre-K at the SEC. Those who plan to bring children to place in childcare should register each child. Specific instructions for each child can be disclosed at registration.
SEC is free and open to the public. There will be an exhibit hall where attendees can visit with representatives from state and national ministries. A popular stop from SEC 2017, the shoe shining stations, is back in 2018 courtesy of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma.
