Oklahoma Baptists have a rich history of commissioning, sending and praying for missionaries as we strive to advance the Gospel worldwide. We take very seriously Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples of all nations and to baptize them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and to disciple them in the ways of God (Matt. 28:18-20). How do we do that? By sending missionaries and missions teams all over the world.
Oklahoma Baptists Partnership Missions is a ministry of Oklahoma Baptists that offers help to Oklahoma Baptist churches—large and small—who want to be obedient to this Great Commission. Through Partnership Missions, enthusiastic people and churches are connected to missionaries on the field. The partnering church supports the work of missionaries by praying, giving and sending missions teams.
Mike Wall serves as the missions consultant for Oklahoma Baptists Partnership Missions. He works to empower and equip Oklahoma churches who desire to be part of taking the Gospel to the nations.
“My role is to connect churches and pastors to the International Mission Board and to help churches that may not have missions teams develop those teams,” Mike said. “I ensure they have the contacts and tools needed to send people as short-term or long-term missionaries. I love to see people discover a heart for evangelism both at home and abroad.”
Most people who have taken a mission trip abroad would agree it is a life-changing experience. Simple things here in our country can be major hurdles in other countries. For example, most people in the U.S. have at least heard of Jesus. But where does one begin to share the Gospel with people who have never in their lives even heard of Jesus? How does one share when there is no Bible in the heart language of the person with whom you are sharing? Few people come home from trips abroad without having their eyes opened and their hearts changed.
Pray this worthwhile ministry will grow as God awakens the hearts of His people for missions both domestic and abroad. Pray Oklahoma churches will have the vision, creativity and courage to take the Gospel around the world. Pray many more Oklahomans will go to the nations to share the love of Christ.
Because of the generous giving of Oklahoma Baptists through the Cooperative Program, an amazing array of ministries are supported. This unified giving encourages fellowship with other believers all over the world. Collectively, Oklahoma Baptists are advancing the Gospel together.
