EDMOND—Randy Lind had much praise about this year’s Proclaim! The worship and music ministries specialist of the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma said those who attended the statewide worship choir and orchestra retreat enjoyed the fellowship and the opportunity to learn new music.
“It was a great time with the instrumentalists and the choir members,” said Lind. “One of the great things about it is it’s like a big family reunion. A lot of these people have known each other through the Churchmen or ChurchWomen or they’ve changed churches through the years, so it had a great feel to it.”
More than 300 people, representing 34 churches, attended Proclaim! on Aug. 13 at Edmond, First. The speaker and choral director was composer, author and music ministry specialist Phil Barfoot.
This was the fourth year to have the Proclaim! retreat, and Lind said “it takes on a different ‘flavor’ every year,” as past Proclaim! events featured a concert and a lecture setting of music ministry specialists.
Lind said next year’s Proclaim! will be a similar structure of this year’s retreat, featuring a choral and orchestra emphasis.
