On July 7, Todd Fisher, Oklahoma Baptists executive director-treasurer, today released the following letter:
Dear Oklahoma Baptists,
Many of you read an important update from me earlier this week, sharing that on July 5 a camper at Falls Creek experienced a major cardiac event and collapsed while participating in a camp activity. He was immediately tended to by trained staff on site before being rushed to the hospital.
It grieves me beyond description to share with you this young man has passed away. Our hearts are broken as we grieve this tragic loss and for his family who is experiencing unimaginable pain.
I want to thank everyone who has been praying so fervently. The family has requested prayer, and we are respecting their privacy as they grieve.
Please join us in continued prayer for this young man’s family as we seek to minister to them in every possible way during this time of terrible loss. Please also pray for his church and our Falls Creek staff, who have served so well amid these tragic circumstances.
The Bible says, “God is near to the broken hearted; he saves those crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18), and that is where we find ourselves. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support.
Serving Jesus with you,
Todd Fisher
Executive Director-Treasurer
